What are the main materials of glass fiber filter materials?

(1) Surface properties. The surface area of glass fibers depends on their thickness. In the production process of certain types of filter materials (such as filter paper), glass fibers do not expand, so the fiber diameter, cross-sectional geometry, and corresponding specific surface area remain unchanged. The stability of this size is a necessary condition to ensure that the filter material has both low resistance and high efficiency under high flow conditions.
(2) Mechanical strength. The strength of glass fiber is related to many conditions such as the composition of the raw material glass, the fiber forming method, the presence of defects on the fiber surface, and the physical and chemical interaction with the surrounding medium. Glass fiber is hydrophilic and can reduce surface energy after being adsorbed by water. In humid air and water, the tensile strength of glass fibers will decrease by 15% to 30%. If its adsorption of moisture in the air can be ruled out, glass fibers have considerable strength regardless of whether they are at high or low temperatures. In order to improve the performance of glass fiber, spraying adhesive materials are often used in the production process of glass fiber, which can not only make the fibers overlap each other, but also change the fiber performance, so that some products have moisture absorption less than 1%, hydrophobicity greater than 98%, and have good chemical stability.
(3) Bending resistance and wear resistance. Glass fiber used as a bulk filling filter, usually with a diameter of 8-19 μ M varies. From the perspective of filtration efficiency, the finer the fiber diameter, the better. However, the strength of excessively fine glass fibers is very low, which can easily break and cause blockage. Therefore, the filling coefficient should not be too large, usually 6% to 10%; In order to prevent breakage and scaling in application, corresponding protective measures should be taken when making filter materials, such as spraying a protective layer, adding a bottom lining protective net, etc.
